In the next days and perhaps weeks, vahrokh.com will be moved to a new host.

The blog and all the other vahrokh.com facilities will be gradually moved to a VPS. This should make the website more quicker while preserving the graphic enhancements it had received some months ago. The VPS comes with varnish and memcached, this should really bring in some serious horse power!

I hope the migration will be smooth. As usual, if you spot issues and bugs with this process I’ll gladly listen to your feedback.

EvE Online is a game in constant evolution. As such, I am adding some new resources and websites.

Particularly worth noting, are the new generation of EvE Online markets related applications and websites.

In fact, CCP are adding support for yet another revolution in the industry: the ability to query the market data from outside of the game client. Here is a reference to the CCP official developers blog announcing this new, exciting feature.

I am going to follow the new developments in this field. If you find some expecially useful application or website featuring the new REST technology to query the markets, please let me know. I’ll review your submission and eventually add  the found material to the list of EvE Online resources.

This is to try and make it more modern, more “mobile friendly”, possibly make it responsive and so on.

This effort will probably lead to a lot of bugs and inconsistencies with the current content, I apologize for any discomfort this could cause and I kindly ask you to point me out where the website broke.

Since some players have requested more downloads to be restored, their pages have been recreated and the files have been put up for download again.

After a month of forced downtime, Vahrokh.com’s download section is up again.

Vahrokh.com is currently receiving a number of updates. The website revamp is mostly due to the existing, aging backend that requires an upgrade and by the replacement of the forum.

Sadly the existing Simple Press forum broke in an unrecoverable way. Since that forum went commercial, I have found its reliability to reduce and its performance to drop, its incompatibilities with the other backend components to rise. One day it simply “exploded”, spattering random contents around the whole website. While the database did not break, the interface and its tens of javascripts and css files went completely nuts, no maintenance of the cache, re-shuffling of the scripts and similar put the various bit back in place again. Of course, since it’s not a very famous forum software, there’s little export scripts.

I installed another forum software (PhpBB) and I am going to manually insert many of the old forum posts. Sadly the visitors posts will be impossible to import under their name. Their most valuable posts will be re-posted under my name with a note stating the original nickname.

I am taking this website revamp opportunity to introduce yet another feature: New market analysis index.

The market analysis index is a collection of past and current market analyses. These analyses cover both real world markets and EvE Online’s. Those who desire to get an analysis expressly made for them, now have a chance to order it.

Vahrokh.com is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the new Market analysis index. It’s a new resource containing a number of past analyses for didactical purposes. It features both real world and EvE^® Online analyses.
